Ashton’s ballets are in copyright, the rights being owned by various individuals and by the Frederick Ashton Foundation itself (see Ashton Ballet Owners). If your company or school wishes to discuss obtaining a licence to perform a ballet or ballet extract by Frederick Ashton, or if you are a dancer wishing to perform Ashton at a gala, competition or event, please contact in the first instance:

Please note that video submissions may be required as part of the licensing process. These videos are viewed only by our artistic team, securely stored and deleted after evaluation. Consent from a parent/legal guardian is required for applicants under the age of 18.

Licences for ballets owned or administered on behalf of the rightsholder by the Foundation require that an approved Ashton répétiteur is engaged to teach, coach and stage the work. These freelance artists must be contracted separately from the Foundation’s licence.
