Join us for this special event in Birmingham, at which Samara Downs – Principal of Birmingham Royal Ballet, choreologist and current participant on the Ashton Stagers’ Programme – will coach dancers of Birmingham Royal Ballet in Scène d’amour from Raymonda (1959). This pas de deux was originally created by Frederick Ashton for Margot Fonteyn and Michael Somes, and was recently reconstructed by Samara for the Foundation. The masterclass will be followed by a discussion exploring the fascinating process of reviving this ‘lost’ Ashton work, led by dance historian Jane Pritchard.
