Ashton performed in Chile for the first time

This evening sees the Chilean premiere of Frederick Ashton, with his ballet The Dream performed by the Ballet de Santiago as part of the Frederick Ashton Foundation’s international festival, Ashton Worldwide 2024–2028.

Based at the Municipal de Santiago, Ballet de Santiago was founded in 1959, and is considered one of the most prominent dance companies in Latin America. The Company’s current Artistic Director is César Morales Anderson, who came to the role in 2024 after 16 years dancing with Birmingham Royal Ballet. Having performed leading roles in several Ashton ballets during his time with BRB, Morales Anderson brings an appreciation for and understanding of Ashton’s choreographic language and style to Ballet de Santiago.

The Company also welcomed Patricia Tierney – Benesh Choreologist at BRB and expert Ashton stager and repetiteur – to stage The Dream as part of their ‘British Night’ programme.
