Shadowing scheme

Supported by Christopher Gorman-Evans and Madeleine Plaut (2013), an anonymous donor in loving memory of Tuck Owen (2022) and the Rick Mather David Scrase Foundation (2023)

A key aim of the Foundation is to develop the skills of future 'Ashton repetiteurs': those who will be teaching, coaching and staging Ashton's ballets in the future, thus ensuring the survival of the Ashton Legacy for generations to come.

The shadowing scheme provides opportunities for potential Ashton repetiteurs to shadow current repetiteurs rehearsing Ashton works and study read-only notation under the auspices of the Benesh Institute. To date, participants have shadowed Ashton Repetiteurs Christopher Carr, Grant Coyle and Lynn Wallis rehearsing and staging Enigma Variations, Monotones I and II, Les Patineurs, Les Rendezvous, Rhapsody, Scènes de ballet, and The Two Pigeons, and extracts from Façade, The Wise Virgins and Valses nobles et sentimentales.

This is an ongoing programme and if you would like to make a donation to support the shadowing scheme, please contact the Foundation c/o christopher.nourse@roh.org.uk or call us on 020 7370 2520 (voicemail service)
